Pearl Harbor Survivors, Chapter 23 North, Lake County, will observe the 75th anniversary of the attack of Pearl Harbor today from 9 to 9:15 a.m. at Library Park and 9:15 to 10 a.m. in Lakeport City Council Chambers at Lakeport City Hall. Honored guests are Lake County’s last Pearl Harbor Survivor Bill Slater and sweethearts Alice Darrow and Charlotte Bower whose husbands were Pearl Harbor Survivors. The guest speaker is Brock Falkenberg, a U.S. Army veteran, with over 21 years of service. He has brought that experience throughout his 24 years to education. Recognized with many awards in education for the exemplary leadership abilities, he now serves as our Lake County Superintendent of Schools. Military ceremonies will be performed by the Lake County Military Funeral Honors Team. April Knoll, owner of the Travel Center in Lakeport will sing the National Anthem. Local Boy Scouts will perform the raising and lowering of flags to half mast.
