LAKEPORT >> Officers arrested two women suspected in the Monday night stabbing of a Lakeport man.

Elysia Raylene Sandouval, 20, faces felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon, battery with serious bodily injury and attempted murder. She was arrested at her home in Upper Lake on Tuesday evening.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, the second female suspect, a 14 year old juvenile, was located at her residence — also in Upper Lake — and taken into custody. She was transported to the Lake County Probation Department for juvenile booking procedures.

Although Lakeport police were initially seeking a third suspect, they announced on Wednesday that no further arrests in relation to the incident were expected.

According to police reports, Sandouval and the minor were allegedly responsible for the attack, which took place Monday night around 9 p.m. on Third St. near Library Park.

An investigation revealed that the victim, a 52-year-old male, noticed the two, along with a female identified only as a 22-year-old Lakeport resident, drinking alcohol in the park. As he past the location, he looked at the women for an unspecified period.

“Sandouval took offense and engaged in a verbal exchange with the male, who after a short time continued on his way towards Main Street,” Lakeport Police Chief Brad Rasmussen said in a press statement.

After the man moved on, Sandouval allegedly made statements about assaulting the male with a knife and asked the 14 year old to assist her by retrieving the weapon.

Rasmussen reported that the minor found the knife and brought it to Sandouval. The older woman ran after the victim and allegedly stabbed him from behind.

All three females then left the area on foot.

“No further information will be released until the investigation is final,” Rasmussen said.

Anyone who may have information on this incident or the activities of these female suspects in Lakeport on Monday evening is asked to contact officers.
