LAKEPORT >> A San Francisco woman kicked an officer who was attempting to assist her with a civil matter on Wednesday.
Lucia Corace, 51, faces multiple charges, including resisting officer by use of force, resisting arrest, false report of a crime and driving without a license.
The incident began around 8:30 p.m. when Corace flagged down Lakeport Police officer Joe Medici, who was on patrol in the 100 block of S. Main St. She allegedly informed Medici that someone was breaking into her house in the 2600 block of Reeves Lane.
Corace requested Officer Medici follow her to the residence.
According to police reports, Corace had made several calls to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office during the day, complaining about tenants of the residence.
Upon arrival at the residence, officer Medici instructed Corace to remain in her vehicle to avoid further conflict with the tenants. At this point Corace allegedly became hostile toward Officer Medici and began yelling profanities. Authorities say she informed the officer she was going into the house and he could not stop her.
Corace then reportedly swung the driver’s side vehicle door open and struck Medici.
Officer Medici ordered Corace out of the vehicle but she allegedly refused to comply and continued to yell while Medici was giving her commands.
At this point the officer requested additional units for assistance. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol responded to help remove Corace from the vehicle. As the officers worked to haul her from the seat, she allegedly kicked Officer Medici in the face and chin and continued to actively resist by swinging her arms.
Corace was eventually taken into custody. She was transported to the Hill Road Jail. Her bail was set at $15,000.
