LAKEPORT >> Clarence Albert Hall, 40, of Clearlake, appeared in court for his Preliminary Hearing with his Defense Attorney Komnith Moth as expected this week — but there was a wrinkle.
Moth indicated he needed a gang report in order to proceed as the defendant enters a general time waiver. The Court found good cause to continue the matter to a later date.
Hall is charged with dissuading a victim, threatening to commit a crime, assault with a firearm and a list of other counts, including two for inflicting corporal injury on a spouse.
The charges stem from an incident last October, when according to Sgt. Rodd Joseph of Clearlake Police Department, officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the 15700 block of 37th Avenue. A male suspect, identified as Clarence Albert Hall, had already left the scene.
The female victim reported numerous domestic violence incidents during the course of the previous two weeks, with some incidents involving a firearm.
Hall is a convicted felon. He was later located inside a home in the 4200 block of Crandall Avenue and taken into custody.
During a Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) search, in the room where Hall was located, officers found a loaded handgun, a replica firearm, approximately 20 grams of suspected methamphetamine, more than a pound of processed marijuana and two digital scales.
Judge Andrew Blum presided over the Preliminary Hearing, and due to the delay of receiving the gang report, this matter is continued to Dec. 12, at 8:15 a.m. The defendant remains in custody and is ordered to be present.
