Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will be bringing a classic 1928 Ford Tri-Motor airliner to Lampson Field on Jan. 19, 2017 to provide rides to the public. The plane is scheduled to arrive Wednesday , Jan. 18. The aircraft is operated under the approval of the Federal Aviation Administration. This plane , a Ford Tri-Motor 5-AT-B with 3- 420 horsepower engines, was built by the Ford Motor Company (one of 199) in 1928, and went into service with Transcontinental and Western Air airlines (TWA) in 1931 and established TWA’s initial routes as the country’s first all-metal multi-engine airliner. The plane was later owned by Evergreen International Airlines, who gave the plane a complete restoration to factory new condition, including updated mechanical safety equipment, and is now being operated by the Experimental Aircraft Association. - Contributed Photo
