ORLAND >> Alma Perez scored 22 points before sitting out the fourth quarter on the bench as the Kelseyville Knights hammered the Quincy Trojans 63-28 in the opening round of the Orland Tournament on Thursday afternoon in Orland.
Kelseyville (7-1) raced out to a 22-8 first-quarter lead and had things well in hand by halftime with a 37-16 cushion.
“We were getting up and down the court real well,” Kelseyville coach Jim Hale said.
The Knights continued to extend their lead in the second half as Hale rotated in his reserves.
“They’re going to be good, but they’re really young,” Hale said of the Trojans.
Besides Perez, sophomore guard Payton Conrad finished with 10 points, Haleigh Meyer added eight and Carli Mendonca and Grace Davidson had six apiece.
“In the second half we were able to work on half-court sets and a lot of other things,” Hale said.
Conrad had two 3-pointers.
