SANTA ROSA >> Sonoma Academy scored baskets following three consecutive Clear Lake turnovers in the third quarter and went on to beat the visiting Cardinals 32-27 in non-league girls’ basketball action on Thursday in Santa Rosa.
“That was the difference in the game,” Clear Lake coach Kory Reynolds said of a seven-point run by the Coyotes that pushed their lead to 10 points.
“We were able to get it back to five, but we dug our own hole,” Reynolds said.
While Clear Lake’s defense turned in another strong outing, the offense continues to struggle. Kortnie Reynolds led the team with 15 points but no one else had more than five.
“Our defense was fantastic,” Reynolds said. “(Camille) Donald held their top scorer to just six points (three of which came in the fourth quarter). She did a great job.”
Clear Lake (4-4) went just 8-for-19 at the free-throw line in the loss.
The Cardinals return to action Tuesday in Upper Lake.
