For more than 30 years people in Lake County have been making the holidays a little warmer for their neighbors in need through the Holiday Basket program.

Donations for the Lake County Holiday Fund are now being accepted at any branch of WestAmerica Bank or Umpqua Bank. These donations are used to provide boxes of food for the holidays to families in need locally.

Checks should be written to the Lake County Holiday Fund.

Cooperating agencies that make this program possible are Lake County Publishing, Lakeport Rotary, Lake Family Resource Center, NCO Community Action Agency, WestAmerica Bank and Umpqua Bank. Because the Lake County Hunger Task Force is now the fiduciary agency, donations are tax deductible, since they are a registered non-profit.

The Lake County Record Bee will print the names of donors — individuals and businesses — if so desired, and any dedications they wish to express.

A total of 1,200 baskets full of food, necessities and holiday cheer will be distributed just before Christmas.
