HIDDEN VALLEY >> Fire crews rescued a Hidden Valley resident from a burning building on Saturday. The victim was transported to St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake.
The blaze ignited shortly after 1 p.m. in a garage on Spyglass Road. When crews from the South Lake County Fire Protection District and Cal Fire arrived, flames were shooting from the structure and power lines were down.
Firefighters quickly pulled the person, who has not been identified, from the building. They also rescued three cats.
The fire damaged half of the structure before crews brought it under control. In all, 5 engine companies and 18 firefighters responded. Some remained on the scene to conduct overhaul and ensure the flame was extinguished.
The cause is under investigation. An early estimate placed the damage at $200,000.
