Who built it?

What a peculiar letter Mac wrote (RB 1-10). He grows his own food.

I assume that he never goes to a grocery store except for the occasional chocolate bar? Never purchases seeds as he saves some for the next year growing season. Raises his own chickens, hogs, cattle?

I wonder if Mac recalls those conservative hippie communes? They grow their own food and eschew government interference so they must be very conservative. No?

So on to the farmers without whom we would starve. I assume that they use machines for harvesting. Transportation to processing plants. Distribution to consumers (usually in grocery stores). And all of that goes on the roadway infrastructure that the farmers, per Obama, ‘you did not build that’.

Unless Mac believes that the farmers did build that?

Concerning ‘a mind numbed drone.’ It appears that Fox News has put out some ‘fake news’. Senate Bill 1322 does not make under age prostitution legal. It changes the treatment of children from prostitutes to sexual victims of pimps. They will be handled similar to missing children. The pimps will still be arrested and tried and may actually be charged with kidnapping.

So much for the lame stream Fox News. But, I suppose, per Mac I must stuff it.

This is truly sad

I find it difficult to be optimistic after the election. Since the ascension of the ‘no compromise’ ‘tea party’, to absolute power, I fear that decades of legislation, beneficial to the public, may be eliminated, defunded, or diluted.

It is incomprehensible that supposedly intelligent individuals, justify a ‘third world’ outlook for our country. We have been the role model for the rest of the world, until now. Now, Scandinavia is home to the happiest people. Instead of competing, we are fighting to preserve the institutions that have made us progressive, and a Christian country.

Every nominee for the cabinet has conflicting interests, or opposing views regarding their posts, re: education.

Don’t be silent

More than 3,000 people in Lake County are covered by the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare). Thanks to the Republican congress, their coverage is about to be repealed with no replacement in place.

For many that means that treatment they are receiving for often serious illnesses will cease unless the patient can cover the cost — an impossibility for most. It also means that subsidies that are provided to our rural hospitals will be cut and our less than optimal current health coverage here in Lake County will be reduced even further. Keeping your kids on your policy until they are 26, no lifetime maximums and coverage of pre-existing conditions — all will be gone.

People will die — our neighbors and our friends. And next in the GOP’s sights — Medicare and Social Security, which would have a devastating effect on so many in this county who rely on both programs.

Don’t be silent — contact your Senators and your Congressmen. Tell them to fight to make the President and Congress keep their word that they would only repeal the ACA if they had a replacement, and that they wouldn’t reduce Social Security or Medicare.

And, by the way, do your research and don’t be fooled, Health Savings Accounts are not an adequate replacement for the ACA. HSAs are a way for you to save your own money to pay for your own healthcare. If you have no funds to save, you will have no money to pay for your chemotherapy, birth control, surgeries, prescriptions, etc. You will have no other option but to file for bankruptcy as more than half a million people a year did prior to the Affordable Care Act.
