LAKEPORT >> Local fire departments responded to reports of a house fire around 10:56 yesterday to find a home nearly enveloped in flames.
The house, located at 2685 Beach Lane, suffered nearly complete damage; only a few sections of wall remain near the front of the property.
According to Lakeport Fire Dept. Chief Doug Hutchison, the owner of the property was not in the house during the fire, accounting for the late report.
“The fire had a really good head start on us,” Hutchison said. “Over 50 percent of the house was involved in the flames when we got here.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, though Hutchison said he figures it started internally, given the wet outdoor conditions and heavy fog yesterday morning.
“With the fog, (the fire) could’ve been giving off white smoke for a while before anyone saw it,” he said.
Lakeport Fire Dept. responded with three engines, a ladder truck, and the chief. Kelseyville Fire and North Shore Fire also responded with additional engines, chiefs, and support. There we no injuries reported.
Hutchison officially cleared the site around 2:56 p.m.
