Helping the holiday fund
On behalf of the board of directors of the Lake County Hunger Task Force, I would like to acknowledge and thank the many parties that came together this year to provide approximately 1200 families and individuals with food for the holidays.
Without the generous donations of dozens of Lake County residents donating to the former Lake County Christmas Fund, now known as the Lake County Holiday Fund, none of this could happen. The donations received in 2015 were used to purchase the food for the boxes this season. The donations received this year will provide for next year. Thank you everyone for your generosity.
None of this would be happening if not for Lake County Publishing. They started this program about 20 years ago, and we hope they continue it for many, many more years, as long as there is a need. Thank you especially for publishing the names of donors, and for the publicity the program received from you. A million thanks to Carol Wilbur for her perseverance to make this happen.
The next large piece of this yearly puzzle is the Rotary Club of Lakeport. Year after year they have undertaken the job of filling and distributing the boxes for the North end of the lake. They work hand in glove with the Lake County Fairgrounds and Bruno’s Shop Smart to make this happen. Thank you all for making this a project from your hearts, especially Brock Falkenberg and Carlos Fagundes. Additionally, thanks to Lake Family Resource Center and Beth Berinti for handling all of the registration paperwork for that day. Just getting folks signed up is a big job, and we are grateful they are willing to do that for all concerned.
At the south end of the lake, IGA Foods, Etc. has worked yearly to provide not only food, but space to work on the boxes. Dennis Darling has been instrumental in organizing his Foods Etc IGA Fights Hunger campaign people to help with all aspects. NCO Community Action undertook responsibility for coordinating the project this year, working with Dennis to streamline the process. In years past, this was done over two days, one to put the boxes together and one to distribute. Because of the efforts of Tammy Alakszay of NCO and Dennis, it was all done on the same day. NCO also managed the registration. Thanks to Konocti School District and Tanya Biasotti with LCOE Healthy Start for allowing us to use Burns Valley Elementary to tackle this task. Not only did we hand out over 700 boxes of food, but IGA also handed out an additional bag to each recipient. They also brought shopping carts with which to move the food from gym to car easily, plus personnel to make this happen. Over 20 volunteers from Foods, NCO, Hunger Task Force, People Services, and community members at large worked from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. handing out food. We cannot say enough about the generosity of all involved. We are looking forward to another wonderful holiday season next year.

I had to hold the R. B. Editorial page 1/11 over the toilet because the excrement was dripping off the page.
Reports say there was not provable voter fraud and you would have to have 2/3s approval of the House, Senate, and the States to do what you propose, by the way, is totally preposterous and against the law. Contrary to Mr. Morton’s column.
Kevin, almost everybody but you knows what Trump meant about rapists and drug dealers. Yours is just another lame leftist rant. HRC does not care about Benghazi. Her lies prove it, proven lies! Again almost everybody but you knows it. The EPA has overstepped their authority to the extent of being sued over and over again and losing these cases.
Both Wells Fargo and BP paid dearly for their transgressions or isn’t that good enough? President Obama adds 10 maybe 12 trillion dollar in debt in 8 years and you don’t have a problem with that and it’s the Republicans fault!
Universal Health Care? Almost all of you Libs are always after somebody else to pay for everything. How about paying for your insurance yourself, just like I have done all of my life.
The Founding Fathers didn’t mean general welfare to mean free Obama phones or all the other free stuff. And where are all the women who accused Trump of various sexual deeds, not to be found now, wonder why? More lies?
The wife said she will not go to see another Meryl Streep film, she doesn’t need to be lectured to by a multimillionaire snob. Wonder how many other people feel this way? Bet you it’s a bunch! Remember what happened to the Dixie Chicks after the rant about GWB.
And Kevin, you can mock me all you want but it will end up like the story of the ant and the grasshopper, you will end up being the fool. Thank you for letting me lead you down the path of self destruction.
And you have to be brain dead to think conservatives are not going to give you better health care than you have with ObamaCare so get over it. Also, remember it takes time and won’t be done overnight.
