LAKEPORT >> Elysia Raylene Sandoval entered a plea of not guilty to all charges during a recent court appearance.
Sandoval is charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
The charges stem from a December incident when a Lakeport police investigation revealed her alleged involvement in a stabbing incident near Library Park.
An initial report based upon an interview with the victim said that one of three unknown females had rushed at a 52-year-old male from behind and stabbed him.
As officers continued the investigation they reported that the victim noticed two females drinking alcohol at Library Park at night. As he passed the location of the women, he looked at them for an unspecified period.
According to Lakeport Police Chief Brad Rasmussen, “Sandoval took offense and engaged in a verbal exchange with the male, who after a short time continued on his way towards Main Street.”
After the man moved on, Sandoval allegedly made statements about assaulting the man with a knife and asked the 14-year-old juvenile to assist her by retrieving the weapon.
Rasmussen reported that the minor retrieved the knife and brought it to Sandoval. Sandoval ran after the victim and allegedly stabbed him from behind.
Sandoval was arrested at her home in Upper Lake the following evening after the attack and the juvenile was arrested at her home — also in Upper Lake — two days following the incident.
Sandoval, 20, was in custody in court with her Defense Attorney Christina DiEdoardo the Plea Entry Hearing.
Judge Stephen Hedstrom presided as Sandoval entered a plea of not guilty to all counts.
The matter is set on Feb. 15 at 8:15 a.m. for the Setting of Preliminary Examination/Bail Review Hearing in Department 4 and the People, represented by Deputy District Attorney John DeChaine, will notify the victim for the Bail Review Hearing.
The defendant is ordered to be present.
Preliminary Hearing set for murder suspect
Judge Stephen Hedstrom scheduled Feb. 8 for Ezequiel Junior Bravo’s preliminary hearing.
Bravo faces four counts of murder, among other charges for his alleged involvement in a November shooting that left one dead and three wounded in the Elem Colony at Clearlake Oaks.
During Bravo’s court appearance, Judge Hedstrom disclosed that his wife has a contract with the Elem Colony for grant applications for HUD. He assured attornies nothing about that affects his ability to be fair in the matter.
Bravo is in custody because of an early morning incident when law enforcement say Bravo — also known as “Junior” — entered a home in the Elem Colony around 2:15 a.m. armed with a shotgun. He allegedly opened fire and fled the scene.
When deputies arrived they found a woman dead from an apparent gunshot wound. A man and a 6-year-old child suffered wounds to the arm. A fourth victim, a female, was also hit and transported herself to the hospital.
Clearlake Police officers arrested Bravo several hours later at Pomo Elementary School in Clearlake.
In addition to the murder counts, Bravo faces three charges related to assault with a firearm and several charges related to marijuana that trail the matter.
This matter is set for a Preliminary Hearing on Feb. 8 at 8:15 a.m. in a department to be announced. The defendant is ordered to be present.
