LAKEPORT >> From serving and protecting, to serving and caregiving, the old police station will be the new location for Tailored Living Choices (TLC) in Lakeport in February.

The current location for TLC is on North Main Street and they will be moving over to North Forbes Street. Glenda Thomas, office manager for TLC, said the reason for the big move was parking and how much of an issue it was at their current location.

“There is no parking for the staff or clients. We love the building and the location of it, but we’re tired of getting parking tickets,” Thomas said.

The company will also be more accessible to their clients because it will no longer be on the second floor and now has only one floor Thomas added.

The company will not lose any business either because of the location move. They also do not plan to expand TLC from the move because they have already been in the process of expanding over the last five years Thomas said.

The City Council of Lakeport also just authorized a budget for $26,060 for improvements of the interior, such as paint and floor coverings.

The TLC was launched in 2006 by Stacy Perez and Vicki Robinson as a Supported Living Services agency for people with mental health disabilities according to their website. The company plays an important role in the transitioning of those who are discharged from long-term locked facilities and

The company serves individuals with behavioral issues as well as disorders. Some aspects they specialize in are Autism, Pica, Prader-Willi and even Diabetes.
