LAKEPORT — Kiana Richardson did a pretty good job of filling up the stat sheet on Thursday night as the Clear Lake Cardinals retained a share of the lead atop the North Central League I varsity girls basketball standings with a 46-17 victory over the St. Helena Saints at Lakeport.
Clear Lake and Lower Lake are tied for first place at 9-1 and both teams have four games remaining, including a Feb. 14 meeting at Lower Lake.
Richardson finished with eight points, nine assists, three assists and three steals as the Cardinals moved to 16-6 overall. Camille Donald led Clear Lake with 13 points and Valerie Hutton added 11.
Clear Lake head coach Kory Reynolds said he was happy to give his starters plenty of playing time against the winless Saints (0-10) with the Cardinals playing their second game in three nights and yet another game coming up Saturday in Fort Bragg.
“Everybody played quite a bit,” Reynolds said. “I was happy to give them (starters) a break.”
Clear Lake blanked St. Helena 12-0 in the first quarter and led 26-4 at halftime.
“The girls are very unselfish and are good at making the extra pass,” Reynolds said.
Donald had three of Clear Lake’s four 3-pointers.

Minus center Lucas Stahr, the Clear Lake Cardinals couldn’t contend with St. Helena’s big men and fell 74-57 to the Saints in North Central League I varsity boys basketball action on Thursday in St. Helena.
Stahr was out of the lineup with the flu as the Cardinals (5-5) fell into a four-way tie for third place in the league standings with St. Helena, Fort Bragg and Lower Lake.
“That’s the best game I’ve seen St. Helena play,” Clear Lake coach Scott De Leon said. “They were hitting on all cylinders. Their guards were hitting shots and their big guys were really effective. We couldn’t match up with them.”
St. Helena was comfortably in front at halftime with a 41-27 lead.
Max De Leon led the Cardinals with 15 points, Tanner Hutton added 14 and Ryan Damiata had nine.
Clear Lake is home Saturday to play Fort Bragg. Junior varsity action tips off at 6 p.m.
In the Cardinals’ 56-44 win over Middletown on Tuesday, Hutton scored a team-best 20 points, Damiata finished with 11 and De Leon had 10. Trevor LaFave led the Mustangs with 16.
