When you know you need to do something, but just don’t know what to do about your Interior space, it’s time to get some experienced advice! Maybe you are acquiring a new business building or a new home and don’t know where to begin. Perhaps your existing Interior space is tired, obsolete for the venue or you just want a change. You may like what you have but want to refresh and project a new twist.

Some prospective clients know exactly what they want and simply want professional help pulling it all together correctly — and that’s a relatively easy place to begin. But, not everyone knows how to get from ground zero to a viable, appropriate Interior design that will make the right presentation.

Home or Business, you want your Interior space to send the welcoming message you intend. In business, you can bet your bottom dollar — presentation does matter!

If you are at point zero for ideas, it is important for you to be willing to spend some time with your professional Interior designer exploring a specific range of factors that will help you get to a reasonable starting point together.

Let’s consider a business client with new, empty Interior space that will need everything from some structural modifications all the way to the last accessory on the last pristine surface. Your expert will want to discuss your business venue, per se; the current trends of that venue in terms of its relevant target market, the closest competition and the significance of your physical location. Are you a retailer, a service venture, a professional such as law or health services? Studying the venue itself and the nearest competition will be important.

Are you a beginner in the venue or in that specific marketplace? Will you be an owner-operator? Will you have employees or associates? Who will be on the front lines?”

Then…Who are you? Your age, hobbies, family status and your experience in the venue all have impact on the factors you consider, the choices you draw from and the decisions you will make. Are you an indoorsy or outdoorsy type! Do you love nature and natural elements and might want them incorporated into your Interior design?

The magic starts to happen with the process of discovery! Little by little, and step by step, you will see your own project concept begin to develop as you move through a guided exploration of your situation with your Interior design expert. By pulling seemingly unrelated factors into a common focus, an Interior environmental dynamic starts to fall into place and define itself.

No Interior designer worth their salt likes guesswork! (Guesswork is full of booby traps, and booby traps tend to backfire!) The core value of your Interior space design concept comes from you, and while you may not feel confident about that in the beginning, with the right guidance, you will arrive at the right place in the end. And, you will recognize it as your own.

Trusting the guided exploration of front-end planning is the key! That’s how you and your Interior design project team gets you from zero to Concept. From there it is basically a creative journey infused with mechanical, technical and resourceful expertise. Like your teachers used to say:

When you don’t know, ask!
