FORT BRAGG — On a night when junior Hokulani Wickard scored his 1,000th career point, the Lower Lake Trojans fell 75-47 to the Fort Bragg Timberwolves in North Central League I varsity boys basketball action at Fort Bragg.

“The wheels just fell off tonight,” Lower Lake coach Shannon Tubbs as the Trojans, winners of five of their last six entering play, dropped to 5-5 in the league standings and into a four-way tie for third place with Fort Bragg, St. Helena and Clear Lake.

The Timberwolves didn’t miss a beat on offense in the first half, outscoring Lower Lake 42-30. The Trojans hung around until the fourth quarter when Fort Bragg blew the game wide open.

Wickard needed 11 points to reach 1,000 and his mid-range baseline jumper in the third quarter put him over the top. Jordan McGrath had the assist on the play. Wickard, who finished with a team-best 17 points, scored his 1,000th point on the same night that fellow Lower Lake junior Aleia Milano collected her 1,000th point in a 83-39 victory over Fort Bragg at Lower Lake.

Fort Bragg stopped the game at that point so that Wickard could be recognized for his achievement. He received a game ball that the Trojans supplied.

“It was pretty classy of them to do that,” Tubbs said of the Timberwolves.

Ethan Watson scored 11 points for the Trojans and Logan Carlson added nine. Lucas Triplett led the Timberwolves with 29 points.

Lower Lake returns to action Friday night at Kelseyville. The junior varsity contest has been moved to 6 p.m. with the varsity game to follow.
