LOWER LAKE – A 23-6 first quarter took away any and all suspense Tuesday night as the Lower Lake Trojans overpowered the Willits Wolverines 86-42 in a North Central League I varsity boys basketball game at Lower Lake High School.
Lower Lake (6-6 league, 11-12 overall) snapped a two-game losing streak to get back to .500 in league play.
“We’re just trying to get everybody headed back in the right direction,” Lower Lake coach Shannon Tubbs said as Lower Lake moved into a tie for third place in the NCL I standings. “We were able to get some kids some playing time who don’t play a lot,” Tubbs said.
Willits remains winless on the season at 0-12 in league and 0-21 overall.
Jordan McGrath and Hokulani Wickard led the Trojans with 17 points apiece and Ethan Watson added 16. Lower Lake finished with 10 3-pointers, four of them by Watson.
Lower Lake hosts Cloverdale on Friday before closing out its league schedule on the road Feb. 14 against Clear Lake.
“We’ve played Cloverdale tough at our place three of the last four times,” Tubbs said.
