
VACAVILLE >> The Lower Lake Punishers entered 19 wrestlers in the annual St. Valentine’s Day Massacre on Sunday in Vacaville and seven came away with first-place trophies in a tournament that drew 425 competitors from throughout California and Nevada.
The seven Punishers champions were Austin Fredrickson, who beat teammate Bryan Gudino with a two-point takedown in a sudden-death overtime final in the 70-pound schoolboy division; Isaiah Rubio, who beat teammate Jonathan Fredrickson in sudden-death overtime to win the 75-pound schoolboy division; Eddie Peregrina Jr. in the peewee division; Aiden Dancer in the 65-pound intermediate division; Silas Dancer in the 46-pound peewee division; and Myles Conatser and Carter Rudolph, who scored their firsts in intermediate divisions.
Other Punishers with second-place finishes besides Gudino and Jonathan Fredrickson were Megan Stottsberry and Arturo Gudino.
Third-place medals went to Dominick Clark, Hayden Fowler, Jayden Roath, Adam Viramontes, Mario Cuellar and Lexy Peregrina.
In wrestling action on Saturday, Aiden Dancer claimed a pair of medals for finishing second in one bracket and third in another during a tournament in Orland. He went 7-2 on the day.
The Punishers head to Del Oro High School in Loomis next weekend to compete in the SCWAY Zone 1 Northern Area Qualifier. The top three finishers in each division advance to the state championships in March at Buchanan High School in Clovis.
