Faalelea is one of a handful of veterans remaining on a Cardinals squad that won the North Central League I championship a year ago with a 13-1 record under head coach Doug Wingler. The Cardinals graduated six seniors, all of them starters. There were more new faces than veterans on a rain-soaked Clear Lake field Thursday. The Cardinals participate in a scrimmage at Ukiah on Feb. 25 before officially opening their season March 7 in Healdsburg.
