The Lake County Theatre Company is thrilled to be bringing back the popular Adult Prom. This year’s theme is “Bounce Back to the 1980s.” Guests are invited to dress in formal wear from the ‘80s (prizes will be awarded for the best dressed).
The event will be held tonight from 8 p.m.-midnight at the Lake County Fairgrounds’ Fritch Hall and will feature prom portraits, beer, wine, and cocktails, contests, raffles, and plenty of music and dancing with live music by the Fargo Brothers! Tickets are just $25 for an individual, $40 for a couple in advance.
Aside from providing guests with an unforgettable evening, the express purpose of the prom is to raise funds for the future dream home of Lake County Theatre Company (LCTC), the Joshua Phillips-Blair Memorial Theater. LCTC is Lake County’s only nonprofit community theater group, and has entertained audiences in the county over the past 30 years with such favorites as the Wizard of Oz, Spamalot, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Fiddler on the Roof, Little Women, Cinderella, A Christmas Carol, the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and many, many more.
LCTC provides opportunities to be a part of the theater experience for people of all ages, including at least one kids-only production per year. They also award a scholarship annually, work customer service at the Lake County Fair and partner with groups such as Meals on Wheels to raise funds. Buying a ticket for prom will not only be a blast, but your money will go toward a worthy cause.
Several local businesses have stepped up to sponsor the event including Blair Drywall, Repair & Painting; Strong Financial; Prestige Tattoo and Strohmeier’s Auto Center. Beer is provided by O’Meara Brothers Brewing Company. Raffle prizes include two tickets to Barrels & Verticals and two tickets to Wine Adventure courtesy of the Lake County Winery Association.
Tickets are available for $25 single/$40 couple at Pieces Boutique (who is also providing a discount on prom attire) or online at www.lakecountytheatrecompany.org. The party starts at 8 p.m. and there will even be dance lessons at the start of it all.
