LAKEPORT >> Hospice Services of Lake County provides quality end-of-life care for individuals and their loved ones when a life-threatening condition or illness no longer responds to curative treatment.
A team of professional nurses, social workers, grief counselors, a spiritual caregiver, volunteers and others care for the physical and emotional needs of patients throughout the county, wherever they call home. Hospice Services, a non-profit organization, has grown from serving a handful of patients in 1979 to serving over 325 patients and families per year, providing care for as many as 50 patients on any given day.
In support of the agency’s compassionate mission, the Board of Directors governs a staff of over 50 professionals and a volunteer force of more than 100. Today, revenue from three thrift stores strategically located in communities around the county fund the patient special needs fund and the community bereavement programs, which include individual and group grief and loss support open to community members, the Wings of Hope Family Bereavement Camps and the school-based bereavement program.
Hospice Services takes pride in being an active part of Lake County communities. The leadership staff actively participates in meetings with other local/regional health care providers and coalitions. They are members of several business organizations in the County, and the staff are members of civic groups such as Rotary, Lakeport Women’s Civic Club, and the Konocti Lioness Club.
CEO Corrigan Gommenginger serves on the Lake County Chamber of Commerce board of Directors. Hospice participates in many community events such as the Pear Festival, Heroes of Health and Safety, Re-runway Fashion Show, parades, and the Stars of Lake County.
Hospice offers presentations/workshops for organizations and businesses, ensuring that Lake County residents have accurate information on a variety of end-of-life issues.
