Upper Lake High School’s Christina Wilson won five of her six matches and avenged her only loss along the way while placing third at 126 pounds during the CIF State Wrestling Championships last weekend in Visalia where she joined teammate Adriana Lopez (sixth at 116 pounds) on the medal stand before the two-day tournament was complete. Wilson posted a perfect 4-0 record in the consolation bracket on Saturday, her final win an 8-3 decision over Haley Valdez of San Dimas High School in the third-place match. Valdez beat Wilson 3-2 in the quarterfinals on day one. Wilson was making her third straight appearance in the state tournament and has advanced to the second day all three years. The medals she and Lopez received were the first ever won by Upper Lake girls at the state tournament.
