UKIAH >> The Terrace Middle School wrestling team entered 10 wrestlers to the Pomolita Invitational on Saturday in Ukiah and all 10 brought home medals, four of them for first place.

The only girl among the 10 Vikings entered was Ashley Pyorre, who won all three of her matches at 93 pounds to finish first. She pinned two of her opponents and beat the other by major decision.

Terrace’s other three firsts came in the boys junior varsity division where Liam Wayment (185 pounds) went 3-0 with three pins, Liam Davis (110) went 3-0 with two pins and a major decision, and Blake Moak (210) won his only two matches, one by pin.

Second-place medals went to Samuel Vanoven (103) and Jonathan Werner (185), both with 2-1 records and one pin each; to Elijah Alvarez (110), and to to Raymond Gonzales-Shoaf (210) with a 1-2 record.

Nathan Pyorre (78) won his only match before a back injury forced him to pull out of the tournament. He finished third. Landon Bethel (124) went 1-2 to receive a fourth-place medal.

“For new wrestlers with only a few practices, they all did great,” head coach Steve Fisher said.
