LOWER LAKE >> The month of February 2017 marked the end of a three year tenure as curator at the Lower Lake Schoolhouse Museum as well as at times the Lakeport Museum for Anthony R.E. “Tony” Pierucci. While he was here, Pierucci enlightened many a person about Lake counties’ history.

The book he wrote entitled, “Lake Counties’ Schoolhouses” proved what a historian Pierucci was. The volume has many photos of earlier times. Pierucci has taken a position with Wells Fargo’s museum classification starting in Sacramento.

Other changes in the venue of the LLSH Museum is the departure of skilled weaver, Sheila O’Hare, has offered her resignation.

The staff of several employed by the museum and the Preservation Committee at the LLSHM gathered at member Beverly Van Pelt’s home in Clearlake Oaks to bid farewell to Pierucci, who was presented a photo-spread of a breathtaking sunset done by artist-photographer Ron Keas, who was present, as was his wife Donna.

The refreshments were made not only by Bev a (wine cake and a buttermilk-poppy-seed cake) but fellow Preservation member, Patsy Butler, serving pineapple upside down cake) her trademark

As the group was clustered in Beverly’s craft room studying a beaded embroidered leather ceremonial skirt she was given in thankfulness to her family for the gift of a schoolroom in Arusha, Tanzania which their oldest son, Garth, built Not only did her family donate money but truckers and Jim Jonas, (who was the company fuel man) The school was christened, Nkankoli.

Just as the party came to a close supervisor Jim Steele joined the event, just driving in from Sacramento where he was representing the county at the state capitol.
