SACRAMENTO >> Several members of the Punishers Wrestling Club of Lower Lake were among the 320 wrestlers competing in the Nor Cal Pal Round Up on Saturday at Foothill High School in Sacramento.

The tournament is a qualifier for the 49th annual Tournament of Champions this weekend at Del Oro High School in Loomis.

In varsity action at Foothill High School, Austin Fredrickson, who had already qualified for the TOC, took first place in the 70-pound division by winning all three of his matches, including a 6-3 victory over Travis Grace of AKA/Daniel Cormier Wrestling in the finals. Grace won the recent Rumble in Reno.

Bryan Gudino competed in the same division as Fredrickson and lost to Grace in a semifinals match that went overtime.

In the 76-pound division, Jonathan Fredrickson came away with a 2-2 record and a fourth-place finish, including a 3-0 loss in the third-place match.

In junior varsity action, Quentin Vilmenay, Myles Conatser, Matthew Estrada and Isaiah Stone all went 3-0 to win their respective divisions. Second-place finishers were Jayden Roath, Carter Rudolph and Jeramiah Dix, and third-place finishers were Ramsey Estrada, Mason Roath and Zakai Vilmenay.

Qualifying to compete in this weekend’s TOC at Loomis are Gudino, both Austin and Jonathan Fredrickson, Mario Cuellar and Isaiah Rubio.

The TOC is considered the toughest middle school tournament in the state and the top eight in each division receive medals.

Also this weekend, Travis and Taylor Boyles of the Punishers are headed to Arizona to compete in the RMN Terminator World Championships.
