MIDDLETOWN >> The Middletown Mustangs are still looking for their first win of the season after falling 10-9 in 10 innings to the St. Vincent Mustangs on Wednesday afternoon during a non-league varsity baseball game at Wes Martin Field in Middletown.
Middletown, now 0-6 under first-year coach Jeff Mielke, carried an 8-3 lead into the top of the seventh inning only to watch St. Vincent (4-1) rally for five runs and send the game into extra innings. Neither team scored in the eighth inning and both squads put up a run in the ninth before St. Vincent pushed ahead to stay with a run in the top of the 10th.
Middletown returns to action Saturday with a doubleheader against El Molino at Forestville. First pitch is 10 a.m.
Individual results from the St. Vincent game were not reported to the Record-Bee.
