CLEARLAKE >> The Art House Gallery and Children’s Museum of Art and Science (CMAS) are working together to create the Public Youth Art Project that will feature Wildlife of Lake County (Mammals, Reptiles, Fish, Birds and Insects). This project is to encourage art in the community from our youth and is open to all students, from grades 6th through 12th, including home schooled students and special need students from Clearlake, Lower Lake, Spring Valley and Clearlake Oaks.
Students will create original pieces of art work which is due April 30 and will share their work at a Student Art Show at the Art House Gallery on May 20. The Public and Local Businesses are encouraged to attend this art gathering. Local businesses are also encouraged to sponsor and adopt a 4’X4’ art board of the original work for their businesses. The Students will also show their work in the 4th of July Parade in Clearlake with CMAS.
Students whose art project are chosen to be sponsored will have the opportunity to utilize the Art House Gallery and to work with local artists to experience and learn to expand their interest in visual arts, increase their knowledge of the wildlife in Lake County and resize their designs to fit on a 4’ X4’ board.
The Art House Gallery is a member based group of over 30 local artists that sponsor local art in the community with hands-on-studios and classes and is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The Art House Gallery offers a beautiful art gallery staffed by local artists, several different kinds of art classes including basket weaving, guitar lessons, life skills through sewing, pottery making and also features a complete Art Library. Classes are offered free and low cost to our community.
The Public Youth Art Project is free to all students and all supplies needed will be provided at no cost. Art murals will be professionally mounted on buildings in the project area. A mural sponsorship is $400. Donations to help defray the costs of materials and mounting for businesses which may not be able to afford a sponsorship will be gratefully accepted and can be sent to the Art Housing Gallery, PO Box 3424, Clearlake, CA 945422.
