A Humboldt County man was seriously injured when his pickup truck rolled over in a collision on Highway 20 Sunday, the California Highway Patrol reported Tuesday.

According to the CHP, a 62-year-old McKinleyville man was driving a 2005 Ford Ranger east on Hwy. 20 and approaching Road 144 (Redwood Valley) around 1:50 p.m. March 19 when another vehicle drove into his path.

The second vehicle was a 2007 Honda CRV driving south on Road 144 that reportedly, for an unknown reason, entered Hwy. 20 “directly into the path of the pickup truck.”

The front of the pickup hit the front of the Honda, then flipped “an unknown number of times before coming to rest on its right side, blocking the westbound lane of Hwy. 20.”

The CHP notes that it is still investigating the cause of the collision and that CalFire and CalStar also responded, but it is unclear if and how the injured driver was transported from the scene.
