The annual Park Study Club scholarship fundraiser, now the famous Wine, Dinner & Dance Gala, took place on March 18 at the Highland Senior Center in Clearlake.
The venue was tastefully decorated, quilts were hanging from the rafters, amazing live and silent auction items were on display and the raffle tables were full of lovely baskets, each as desirable as the one before.
Plenty of local premium wines were poured as our guests were mingling. Lower Lake High School Jazz band was plying guests with great tunes followed by the Show Choir presenting its musical program. As guests and organizers listened, their biding strategies were silently crafted. Local businesses came through in spectacular fashion with gifts and donations. And let us not forget the desserts prepared by the L.L.H. school junior class to be auction off to the highest bidder. The fun continued as the L.C. Diamonds played their popular music for our listening pleasure.
A scrumptious meal was prepared by the well regarded Woodland College Culinary program. I have to say the food was delicious.
When the live auction started, the atmosphere was filled with laughter and a spirited biding. The guests competed in a fun way and when the last raffle item was given to its smiling winner, it was time to cut “loose” and dance. But not before the traditional wooden sculpture “The Heron” was raffled off. Then sadly, the magical 10:00 hour arrived and it was time to say good buy for another year. Mark your calendars for the 3rd Saturday in March 2018.
