KELSEYVILLE >> The Healdsburg Greyhounds kept opening up big leads and the Kelseyville Knights kept battling back before finally falling 16-14 in a non-league junior varsity baseball game on Thursday in Kelseyville.
“I’m really, really proud of my guys for how much heart they had,” Kelseyville coach Mike Davis said. “They didn’t fold when we got down.”
Too many errors in the field and two many walks issued by Kelseyville pitching turned out to be the difference in the game, according to Davis.
“We didn’t play catch, we threw the ball around a little bit, and we walked too many guys,” Davis said. “We didn’t do the small things you need to do to win.”
Losing pitcher Tyler Linnell went 2-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs to lead the Knights (3-3) at the plate. Austin Navarro went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs and Raymond McLeod went 2-for-3 with a RBI.
The loss snapped a three-game Kelseyville winning streak.
