LAKEPORT >> Three of the five matches went the maximum three sets on Tuesday afternoon as the Clear Lake Cardinals held off the Kelseyville Knights 3-2 in Coastal Mountain Conference tennis action in Lakeport.

Clear Lake (2-0) pulled out the victory on the strength of a Sereno Dominguez come-from-behind 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 win over Merin Rixen in third singles, a Bobby Lasher and Stacy Partridge 6-3, 6-3 victory over Kristen Amendola and Garrett Grossner in first doubles, and a down-to-the-wire 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-2) win by Ian Sammel and Dylan Bennett over Laurel Weller and Diamond Maglietta in second doubles.

“It was really good tennis,” Clear Lake coach Shannon Aloia said.

Kelseyville (0-2) registered victories in first singles where Josh Bridges beat Scotty Mather 6-0, 6-0, and in second singles where Bodhi Baird defeated Subhagya Joshi 6-1, 0-6, 6-0.

“My team was wonderful,” Kelseyville coach Laurie Martin-Vargas said. “We played good team tennis.”

Savannah Molley of Kelseyville also beat Lexi Burke of Clear Lake in an exhibition singles match.

Clear Lake returns to action Wednesday in Boonville against Anderson Valley and is on the road again Friday to play Cloverdale. Kelseyville travels to Middletown on Thursday.
