SANTA ROSA >> Jimmy Rockwell pitched 5 1/3 effective innings and struck out six on Tuesday afternoon as the Middletown High School junior varsity baseball team built an 11-2 lead en route to a 16-9 win over Santa Rosa High School in non-league action at Santa Rosa.
The Mustangs take a 6-0 record into their league opener Friday at Cloverdale.
Santa Rosa jumped on Rockwell’s replacement to close the gap to 11-9 but the Mustangs scored five times in the top of the seventh to lock up the victory.
Aiden Skinner went 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs and Drake Harbison went 3-for-5 with four RBIs to spark Middletown at the plate. Jack Sisson also went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a RBI and scored four times, Nico Bario went 2-for-2 and Isaac Perez went 1-for-3 with a RBI.
