FORT BRAGG >> Daniella Estrada won the triple jump and added a third-place finish in the long jump for the Upper Lake Cougars during a season-opening Coastal Mountain Conference track meet Wednesday at Fort Bragg High School.

Also participating were teams from Fort Bragg, Willits, Mendocino and Leggett Valley.

Estrada’s winning mark in the triple jump was 26 feet, 1 ½ inches. She cleared 10-10 ½ in the long jump.

Also for the Upper Lake girls, Delaney Love finished second in the shotput at 23-3 and Christal Nieves placed third in the 800 meters at 3 minutes, 32 seconds. The Cougars’ 4×100-meter relay team came in second at 66.53 seconds.

Fourth-place finishes went to Justin Snow in the 400 meters and to Love in the discus (62 feet).

For the Upper Lake varsity boys, Camden Goetjen won the high jump by clearing 5-2 and he was second in the shotput with a throw of 30-11.

The Cougars also picked up three thirds, two of them by Nathan Sneed — in the 200 meters at 26.90 and in the high jump at 4-8 — and the other by Chase Clark in the discus at 72-5. Sneed added a fourth in the 100 at 13.03.

Upper Lake’s track teams return to action April 12 at Kelseyville High School.
