HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE >> Coastal Mountain Conference South golfers had to contend with a two-club wind and lightning-fast greens on Thursday at Hidden Valley Lake Golf course where St. Vincent padded its conference lead with another victory.

St. Vincent finished with a team score of 367 on the par-72 course. Battling it out for second place for a second week in a row were the host Middletown Mustangs with 388 and the Kelseyville Knights with 392. St. Helena came in fourth with 494 while Technology, Rincon Valley Christian and Geyserville all were incomplete (fewer than four golfers).

“I’m happy with the way they’re playing,” Kelseyville coach John Berry said of his mostly green squad.

Through the first three South matches of the 2017 season, St. Vincent leads the conference with a 18-0 record followed by Middletown at 14-4 and Kelseyville at 13-5.

St. Vincent’s Max Kleinecke had the low individual round with a 79. Kelseyville’s Matt Wotherspoon was just a shot back at 80, including two birdies. Derek Coulter of Middletown was next at 82 and was followed by Carson Kalvfleish of Geyserville at 84 and Teo Malo of Technology at 85. Also cracking the 80s among Lake County golfers were Middletown’s Hayden Sust at 88 and Kelseyville’s Michael Beverlin at 89.

The next CMC South match is Thursday at Adams Springs Golf Course on Cobb Mountain beginning at 2 p.m. Kelseyville is also participating in the St. Vincent de Paul Tournament on Monday at Marin Country Club in Novato.
