LAKEPORT >> The Lake County Sheriff Brian Martin announced they will operate at normal office hours on Mondays again at their Lakeport office.
Due to a shortage of staff, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office had to restrict their office hours on Mondays to half days since Feb. 16 of last year.
Martin said the staff shortage was in their Records Division. The restricted hours were to remain in effect until new Law Enforcement Records Technicians were hired and trained.
“The shortage caused extra work for records techs in addition to their normal assigned duties of interacting with the public,” Martin said. “Typically Monday’s were a heavy work load day because of the amount of arrest that occur over the weekend and Friday evening.”
Since the restricted hours, Martin said they have hired one records technician, had two internal transfers and had a returning technician who had been out on an extended medical leave. In all, the department added five new positions.
“We are able to provide services at our full 40 hour work week,” Martin said. “We are in the business to provide a service to the public.”
Rob Brown the District 5 Supervisor said it is good to have the office operating at full hours.
“We get a lot of request to limit orders or limit hours temporarily and then it last forever,” Brown said.
The normal business hours at the LCSO started this week.
