CLOVERDALE >> Cameron Luis pitched 4 2/3 innings of one-hit ball for the victory while also going 3-for-4 with two RBIs in Middletown’s 12-1 junior varsity baseball victory over the Cloverdale Eagles on Friday afternoon in Cloverdale.
It was the North Central League I opener for both teams.
Luis took a no-hitter into the fifth inning before the Eagles finally broke it up with their only hit of the day. Isaac Perez got the last out of the fifth and finished out the game, allowing no hits and one unearned run. Luis and Perez combined for 13 strikeouts and no walks.
Drake Harbison had a big day at the plate for the Mustangs (1-0, 7-0), going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and four runs scored. Other leaders were Jaiden Trueblood (2-for-4, double RBI), Perez (2-for-4, two runs) and Jack Sisson (1-for-3, double, two RBIs).
Middletown is back in action Tuesday at Lower Lake (1-0). The Mustangs return home on Wednesday to play Clear Lake. Both games start at 4 p.m.

Clear Lake 8, Willits 1
At Lakeport, Darius Ford pitched a two-hitter, struck out five and walked none as the Clear Lake Cardinals beat the Willits Wolverines for their first victory of the season.
It was the league opener for both teams.
“I was very, very happy with his outing,” Clear Lake coach Ed Pepper said of Ford, who threw 90 pitches.
Ford also did well at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a RBI.
Willits scored its lone run in the top of the first inning and it remained a 1-0 game until Clear Lake pushed three runs across the plate in the bottom of the third.
Josh Damiata went 2-for-3 for the Cardinals (1-0, 1-3) and Brady McGuire went 1-for-3 with a triple and a RBI.
“It was a full team effort,” Pepper said.
The Cardinals return to action Tuesday at home against Kelseyville (0-1) at 4 p.m.
Lower Lake 6, Kelseyville 4
At Kelseyville, Lower Lake pitchers Gabe Padilla and Joe Boyd combined to beat the Kelseyville Knights in the league opener for both teams.
Padilla worked the first three innings and was credited with the victory while Boyd finished up.
Adam Deleon went 2-for-4 for the Trojans (1-0, 3-4), Gavin Watson went 2-for-4 and Boyd scored twice.
For Kelseyville (0-1, 3-4), Tyler Linnell pitched five innings of one-run relief and struck out nine. He also doubled and homered for the Knights while driving in three of their runs. Bryan Newburg went 2-for-3 with a triple and a RBI.
“We didn’t play catch and we left too many guys on base,” Kelseyville coach Mike Davis said.
Kelseyville plays Clear Lake in Lakeport on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Lower Lake hosts undefeated Middletown on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
