HEALDSBURG >> CORE Wrestling Club of Lower Lake sent nine of its members to a recent tournament in Healdsburg.

CORE wrestlers ranged from the pee wee division to schoolboy.

First-place finishes went to Jesse Saldana Rivera in the 45-pound bantam division and to Pedro Garrido in the 117-pound schoolboy division. Dylan Neuharth added a second in the 57-pound intermediate division while Aleesia Occhino came in third in the 80-pound bantam division.

Other top CORE finishers were Mason Fuchs, fourth in the 35-pound pee wee division; Trey Thurman, fourth in the 60-pound bantam division; Kaylee Davenport, fifth in the 60-pound bantam division; Hailee Dorsey, fifth in the 35-pound pee wee division; and Liberty Fuchs, fifth in the 68-pound intermediate division.

Top-three finishers in all weight classes received medals except in the pee wee divisions where the top five medaled.

CORE will send five wrestlers to the season-ending Reno World Championships beginning Thursday and running through Sunday. They are Mason Fuchs, Liberty Fuchs, Saldana-Rivera, Thurman and Neuharth.

“I am definitely excited about the competition in Reno,” coach Ed Fuchs said.
