WEED >> Former Middletown High School baseball standout Tyler Holt, currently a sophomore pitcher for the College of the Siskiyous in Weed, has signed a letter of intent to attend Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas.

Holt attended a signing ceremony on Saturday accompanied by parents Brad and Dore Holt of Hidden Valley Lake, girlfriend JazzminBryan-Chisum, College of the Siskiyous head coach Nicke Thielman and assistant coach Dixon Marble.

Holt will attend Jarvis Christian on scholarship. A pitcher for Siskiyous, he will continue to pitch for Jarvis Christian and might even play some outfield.

A member of the NAIA, Jarvis Christian competes in the Red River Athletic Conference and the Bulldogs are having a fairly successful 2017 season at 22-18 overall and 10-5 in conference.

Holt, a 2015 graduate of Middletown High School where he posted a 7-5 win-loss record with a 2.81 ERA and three complete games during his senior season, is currently pitching for a Siskiyous team that is 8-21. At Siskiyous so far this season, Holt has appeared in eight games, all as a reliever, and is 1-0 with a 5.11 ERA. He has struck out eight in 12 1/3 innings.

Holt, 20, is a criminal justice major. His younger sister Brittney is a senior at Middletown High School where she competes in volleyball and softball. She was an All-League setter for the Mustangs in volleyball this past season.
