MIDDLETOWN >> Jack Sisson pitched a one-hitter for four innings to pick up the victory and he also doubled and tripled on Saturday afternoon as the Middletown High School junior varsity baseball team beat the Piner Prospectors 8-4 in non-league action at Middletown High School.
Middletown improved to 11-0 on the season with its latest victory that capped a 3-0 week with one rainout.
Sisson struck out six during his four innings on the mound. Will Chastain and Jimmy Rockwell worked in relief.
Among Middletown’s leaders at the plate were Sisson, who went 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored. Drake Harbison (2-for-4, RBI) also tripled. Rockwell, Jaiden Trueblood, Aiden Skinner and Jon Hoogendoorn also knocked in runs.
Middletown resumes North Central League I action today at home against Kelseyville beginning at 4 p.m. The Mustangs, who are 4-0 in league action, host Fort Bragg on Friday afternoon, also at 4 p.m.
Team notes: Middletown’s JVs have won 33 consecutive games dating back to last season when they went 22-1 under former coach Jeff Mielke, who now coaches the varsity Mustangs … Middletown’s non-league game with Healdsburg, which was rained out Wednesday, has been rescheduled for April 26 in Healdsburg.
