ALISO VIEJO >> A man who woke up in his car thought he was in Santa Ana, but he was 15 miles away — and parked inside a high school.
Alexander Nixon, 23, of Las Vegas was arrested shortly before 7 a.m. Monday by an Orange County sheriff’s deputy who found him sleeping in a car in an entryway of Aliso Niguel High School, in Aliso Viejo.
Nixon told the deputy he had been drinking the previous night and thought he had driven to the home where he was staying, Lt. Dan Dwyer of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said.
A photo showed the car, a 2014 Dodge sedan, in what appears to be a walkway leading to an outdoor seating area. School was in session, but on Mondays the first class doesn’t start until 8:45. Aliso Viejo is adjacent to Laguna Niguel, on the south coast of Orange County.
Nixon reportedly failed a sobriety test and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He is not the registered owner of the car, which has Nevada license plates, but the vehicle is not stolen, Dwyer said.
