SANTA ROSA >> Middletown High School’s Kelsey Lemoine and Kelseyville High School’s Andre Williams went up against some of the best runners in the Redwood Empire and held their own and then some on Saturday during the annual Viking Classic at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa.
Lemoine, a sophomore, placed fifth in the 100 meters at 13.12 seconds and sixth in the 200 at 27.32. Kirsten Carter of Santa Rosa High School won both events (12.19 in the 100 and 25.11 in the 200).
Williams, also a sophomore and a state qualifier for the Knights in cross country last fall, ran fifth in the 3,200 in 9 minutes, 58.86 seconds. Wes Methum of Rincon Valley Christian, one of Williams’ opponents during the cross country season, came in first in 9:45.57.
Lemoine and the Middletown track team return to action Wednesday in Cloverdale. Williams and the Kelseyville track team compete Wednesday in St. Helena.
