SANTA ROSA >> Over the past five days, nine deaths believed to be heroin overdoses have been reported in the Santa Rosa area, the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office said Tuesday.
While the final cause of death has yet to be determined and next of kin have not been notified, officials said they want to warn the public of the trend — especially health, rehabilitation, and treatment centers.
Authorities say they are concerned that heroin being distributed in Santa Rosa right now is very volatile and potentially toxic.
Any signs of overdose should be taken seriously. Anyone exhibiting signs or symptoms of an overdose should seek medical attention immediately or call 911.
