LAKEPORT >> May is an especially busy time at the Lake County Arts Council’s Main Street Gallery. There are a number of exhibits within this First Friday Fling’s reception for the artists on Friday, May 5 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Main Street Gallery has the opportunity to feature the work from the estates of two well known Lake County artists, Sally Lehman and Samuil Marcu.

Multi talented, Lehman wrote poetry, created jewelry and painted from her charming home in Lower Lake.

Marcu’s paintings, of people sunning themselves at beaches in southern California, are much sought after and show his ability to simplify the human form while still imparting a sense of space and emotion. Marcu’s work also includes impressionist and expressive landscapes of California.

The Linda Carpenter Student Gallery will feature photography from Lower Lake High School student who deliver a documentation of the ravages of the fires that swept through their communities. These are powerful and moving images. Lauren Schneider instructed these young people and shared their collective work.

Flowers are May’s Theme Show in the Student Gallery. It will be interesting to see what abundance of blooms will be spotlighted for your enjoyment.

The Main Street Gallery located at 325 N. Main Street in Lakeport . For additional information and the artists showing, please call 263-6658 or visit www.LakeArts.org.
