LAKEPORT >> Lake County AmeriCorps is currently seeking applicants for the 2017-18 school year to tutor or mentor in the schools throughout Lake County. AmeriCorps, in conjunction with the Lake County Office of Education, has openings for paid volunteer positions for the upcoming school year.
There will be an orientation and overview of the AmeriCorps program on Tuesday. May 9. at the Lake County Office of Education located at 1152 South Main St. in Lakeport from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Kesey Room. Please call (707) 263-8796 x 241 to reserve a space.
Refreshments will be available. There is ample parking at the rear of the building.
AmeriCorps members provide students with academic, social, emotional, and nutritional development through their specialized programs. There are a variety of different programs and choices of hours to serve that are available. Training and education is provided. In addition to the bi-monthly stipend there is a substantial education award at the end of their service.
No experience necessary but you must possess a High School diploma or GED. Applicants who are High School Seniors must be at least 17 years old. Applicants must be able to pass a DOJ/FBI background check, TB test and sex offender search prior to serving in a school. Proof of citizenship is required.
This program is perfect for those passionate about education and child development who love working with children. All ages and experiences are considered.
