LAKEPORT >> Mother’s day celebrations were not all that happened this weekend in Lakeport. Locals had the opportunity to attend a new monthly event, Second Sunday Swap Meet.
The event, hosted by Lake County Fairgrounds, housed isles of both commercial and home vendors within the Fairgrounds’ driving alley. From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. visitors shopped vintage items, plants, crafts, had their palms read and snacked from favorites like Smokehouse Jerky Co.
Fairgrounds’ CEO Debbie Strickler and Rental Coordinator Leslie Firth and said the event will be held from May through October rain or shine. In fact, the swap meet dealt with fluctuating rain throughout the day, which might have deterred a few people from chancing the open air event.
Of course, the first swap meet landing on Mother’s Day did not help, according to Firth. Yet attendance met with opening day expectations.
“Our goal is to grow and have vendors go all the way outside to the streets. We are also planning a Special Car Parts Swap meet. These events allow a safe space for sales, that be a yard sale or for a commercial business,” she added.
Each space is available in 10 x 10 increments for $25 and $20 for additional space. Those interested in renting a space are encouraged to RSVP to rentals@lakecountyfairs.com or call 263-6181
