LAKEPORT >> The May installment of the Lake County Library’s Know Lake County series will feature Lake County’s Certified Farmer’s Markets (CFMs), farm stands and the Organic Certification program, presented by Steven Hajik.
The free program will be held May 20 at the Lakeport branch of Lake County Library at 1425 N. High Street from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Lake County Department of Agriculture ensures that the CFMs comply with direct marketing regulations by inspecting growing sites, issuing Certified Producers Certificates, and investigating market complaints, all to maintain the integrity of organic food production.
The Know Lake County lectures feature speakers from a wide array of organizations and disciplines, each representing some aspect of Lake County. This time, Hajik, Lake County Agricultural Commissioner and Sealer of Weights and Measures, will lead the lecture. He has been with the Department since 2002.
Before coming to the County he worked Merced, Modoc, San Luis Obispo and Mendocino Counties. His job is to enforce the laws and regulations regarding the agriculture industry and weights and measures.
