Why are we so divided?
Galilee Lutheran Church
Lay leader: Kristy Weiss
This Sunday at 10 a.m., we remember the prayer that Jesus prayed for his disciples, from the book of John. He said:
“I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours….I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one.”
Jesus is soon to ascend to heaven, but he leaves his disciples behind in good hands … His Father’s. He prays for our protection from the world, but he also asks they we will be united in faith, as He and the Father are united.
So what happened? Why are we so divided? Why do we sometimes focus on man-made beliefs that separate us, rather than on the beliefs we have in common? Lutheran, Catholic, Baptist, Pentecostal, and yes … Jewish and Muslim. We all have the same Father, but we’re like squabbling family members who forget their common origin.
Let’s all pray that we, the family of God, can work together in our community for the common good and the spreading of the Good News. “Hear, O Israel, the Lord your God, the Lord is one!”
Galilee Lutheran is located at 8860 Soda Bay Road in the Kelseyville Rivieras. We invite everyone!
The promise
Clear Lake Baptist Church
Pastor: Ray Smith
After the resurrection, Jesus promised to return. That event occurs in two stages; the rapture and the second coming.
The rapture is when Jesus returns to remove the believers from the world to usher in his Day of Wrath (Day of the Lord). The rapture is an important event and could happen at any time. Be ready! Come on Sunday for answers. Join us this Sunday at 10:45 a.m. to learn more. Come Sunday evening for a more in-depth study of 1 Thessalonians 4:9-12.
We also have Bible studies for all ages at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday. On Wednesday, we have a prayer meeting and Bible study. Listen to sermons online (but there is no substitute for live interaction and engagement.) Coming up is our Vacation Bible Club, June 26-30.
