LAKE COUNTY >> The body of an unidentified man was discovered in a rural area along the Judge Davis Trail near the Colusa County line on Friday morning.
According to a statement released the evening of May 26, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible human remains at the site. The body was located in a remote part of the trail, some two miles from Highway 20.
Deputies responded and were able to find the body. Removing it from the scene proved difficult, however. They required the assistance of a California Highway Patrol helicopter out of Sacramento.
Identification of the body is pending an autopsy scheduled for this week. Authorities have yet to establish a cause of death.
According to LCSO Lt. Corey Paulich, an initial investigation found no obvious signs of foul play.
The Judge Davis Trail starts along Highway 20 on the eastern edge of Lake County and winds through canyon and open land to Cache Creek.
