UPPER LAKE >> It was a tough season for the Upper Lake High School softball team as far as wins and losses go, but the Cougars can take some comfort in that seven of their players were recently honored on the All-North Central League II team as selected by the league’s coaches.

Topping the list of Upper Lake players honored is sophomore Cheyanne Obedoza, the Cougars’ lone first-team selection. Three other Upper Lake players landed on the second team – juniors Adriana Saldana and Bailey Young and senior Chelsie Valdez.

Among league players earning honorable mentions were Upper Lake freshman Maria Wade, sophomore Katlyn Minnis and senior Julia Mooney.

The league’s MVP award was shared by St. Vinent’s Hailey Antonini and Technology’s Morgan Cummesky, both seniors.

NCL II champion St. Vincent had 10 players honored.
